Alvin Elroy Overlock, 80 of Summerville died on Saturday, October 20 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Overlock was born on February 14, 1932 in Hermon, Maine to Gardner and Edith Overlock. Mr. Overlock lived a large portion of his life in Maine before moving to South Carolina. Mr. Overlock’s longtime occupation was working as a truck driver where he worked for various companies. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jennie Austin Overlock, two sons, Daniel (Barbara) Overlock of Pine Mountain GA, Paul (Susie) Overlock of Summerville, three daughters, Pamela ( Leslie) Horton of Gaston SC, Jamie (Eric) Powell of North Augusta SC, Staci (Antonio) Cheatham of Aiken SC, two sisters, Nora Bemis of Bangor ME, Grace (Bob) Savage of Ritter SC, one brother, Eddie (Brenda) Overlock of Stetson ME, 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Charles Overlock.
Visitation for Mr. Overlock will take place on Tuesday, October 23 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services (7475 Peppermill Parkway, North Charleston SC). Funeral services celebrating his life will take place on Wednesday at 11:00AM at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services. Interment will follow at Plantation Memorial Gardens (2847 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner SC). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
