Bethany Hope Gooch
We can truly say that we have the 3 most incredible kids a family could be blessed with.
We received Bethany Hope as a gift on July 27th, 1989.
On Thursday morning, Dec. 11 in her sleep, our miracle daughter Bethany went home to be with JESUS. Bethany is our hero! She was strong and courageous, a mighty woman of GOD.
She loved being in His presence and she will be there forevermore. We will celebrate the life of Bethany Hope Gooch on Monday Dec. 15.
Visitation will be 10:30AM – noon and the service will immediately follow. The celebration will take place at James Island Christian Church, located at 12 Sawgrass Road Charleston, SC.

    Mike, Jodie, Joy and Andrew,

My heart is heavy. You are all so dear and hold such a special place in my heart. I am so grateful that I got to be a part of Bethany’s life in those little toddler years. What a joy she was. I remember babysitting many times, and one time, specifically, I remember rocking her to sleep in the rocking chair in her room. Sweet moments with a precious girl. I am praying for you all. I know the coming days, weeks and months will be trying. I am so excited that we have the hope that we WILL see Bethany again. I love you all! Many hugs and prayers from the Aikens. Amber, Elliot, Wes, Sawyer and Avery Cate.

All our prayers and love are with you guys. Isaiah 61:1-3 says, “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion– to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
May the Comforter crown you with beauty, anoint you with the oil of gladness and adorn you with the garment of praise.

Pastor Mike and family, thinking of you and family during this time. Praying for strength and courage knowing that God is in controll of all things.

  • Larry and Debbie Turner says:

Corinthians 5:1-4 “For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life”

While we weep with you in your loss we also rejoice with you in Bethany’s homecoming.

We rejoice that our Heavenly Father has chosen to take our special friend Bethany to His Home just now, perhaps to help celebrate at this time the birth of His own Son Jesus. Even as we rejoice for Bethany, our human hearts are heavy, and that place in our hearts “the Gooch” filled is empty because we miss her warmth and love, and we just miss having her here! Those who were privileged to spend time with Bethany experienced selfless, pure love…that rare, unassuming, trusting love that flowed from her as naturally as juice from a freshly-cut ripe watermelon. It was always a mystery to Leeann and me how effectively Gooch communicated her affections (and sometimes her displeasure) without ever uttering a syllable! And her quirky personality…how she’d turn her head and eyes away from me when I’d walk into her room after far too long an absence…and refuse to even acknowledge my flimsy excuses until I’d been “punished” just enough. And then she’d fix her full, forgiving gaze on me and let me know to try not let it happen again! She was a true friend, and I often wondered what amazing love her parents, siblings and extended family must have poured into her to give her the awesome personality and presence she always had. Bethany really loves her Mom and Dad, sister and brother; it was always fun to see her eyes light up when she heard their voices, and she always knew that, if they’d been out for awhile, the first stop on their return home was her bedside to love on her. And did she ever soak up all that love….she knew she had them, in fact all of us, wrapped around her little finger!
So Mike and Jodie, Andrew, Joy and Ben, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts and extended family, Leeann and I continue to hold you up in prayer, asking God to help ease the hurt of missing Bethany, yet at the same time we all rejoice and celebrate that she has gone Home to be with our Father! Our hearts go out to you all! We are so very blessed to call you our friends. Dennis & Leeann Wysong

  • Lenora Byrd says:

I will always remember Bethany as that precious little girl with the contagious laughter! She brought such joy, and it was a privilege to be just one of her caregivers (for too short a time)! I pray it will bring comfort to you all, just imagining her in a pain free body, running and laughing (& hopefully, tiptoeing) her way through Heaven, singing with the angels (she spoke so often of).
Your love for her was so obvious, & I can only imagine how you must miss your girl…. Prayers for you all, with much love!
