Cary David “Fred” Fabel

Cary David “Fred” Fabel, 54, of Charleston, SC, passed away on December 14, 2013.

Visitation will be held at Northside Baptist Church on December 19, 2013 at 5:30 pm.

Funeral service will be held at Northside Baptist Church immediately following visitation at 6:30 pm, with Reverend Mike Felber of Northside Baptist Church officiating. Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services are handling the funeral arrangements.

Cary was born in Buffalo, NY to Carol A. Trhlik and David A. Fabel on December 31, 1958. He served in the Army for three years.  He later worked as a software engineer for over thirty years.  He enjoyed fishing and boating. He cherished his time as a volunteer firefighter with the Cainhoy and Huger fire departments, where he rose to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief.

Cary is survived by his sons, Travis C. Fabel and Jason C. Fabel; daughter, Amy C. Fabel; mother of his children, Carrie D. Fabel; father, David A. Fabel; mother, Carol A. Trhlik; brother, Eric D. Fabel; sisters, Tracy E. Wardell and Beth A. Fabel; grand-daughter, Kyra M. Fabel; nephews,  Jeffery B. Wardell  and Aaron M. Wardell.

I once was lost, but now I’m found; was blind, but now I see.

    “Fred” as I knew him, was proud to wear all the hats to all the roles he played. He spoke fondly of his family and loved you all.
    May he rest in peace.

    My condolences to “Fred’s” family and friends. “Fred” was a chatter in a senior chat room that I attend. He was highly thought of by many of the chatters. He told great stories and offered his wit and humor to brighten people’s days even when his health was failing. R I P “Fred”
