Ivan Lamoine Lewis, 78, of Ladson, SC went to be with his Heavenly Father October 30, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12PM at Deer Park Baptist Church. Rev. John Moore and Rev. Stephen Carr officiating. Visitation will occur one hour prior. Entombment will follow service in Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville. SC, conducted with Military Honors.
Mr. Lewis was a native of Wesley, AR having made Charleston his home for the past 50 years. He was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church, where he served faithfully. He served in the United States Navy retiring as a Senior Chief, Master of Arms after 20 years of service. He later joined the Naval Investigative Service (NIS) before enjoying a second retirement. Mr. Lewis was known for his faith in God, love of family, and his good humor. He and his furry friend, Lucky, enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their special place where Mr. Lewis spent hours perfecting his woodworking craft.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Lewis; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. Rod (Julie) Lewis of Augusta, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kim (Linda) Tapply of Summerville, SC; and a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Lori) Lewis of Summerville, SC; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one brother, Gayle Lewis of Huntsville, AR.
Pallbearers will be Bill Carpenter Sr., Mark Hawkins, Joel Rogers, Ted Sherrill, Ed Stephens Jr, Joseph Whitt, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deer Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 8875 University Boulevard, North Charleston, SC 29406.
