Jeanette S. Florio

By January 5, 2015 Obituaries

Elizabeth Jeanette “Net” Florio (August 24, 1938 – January 2, 2015) joined the choir of heavenly angels after her valiant battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Wilbert Carroll Suggs and Lizzie Cumbee Suggs. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur J. Florio of 19 years and Alan C. Grooms II of 11 years and two daughters, Kathy Guerry and Lynne Mallicote. To know her was to love her. She gave when she had only herself to give, she loved till her arms ached, and suffered more for others than herself. She unconditionally loved and seized every opportunity to reach out to everyone she met with the love of Christ. Her strength and love for others radiated from her spirit until her final precious breath. We are blessed to have had her in our lives and her legacy will live on in the faces of her children, Alan C. Grooms III, David B. Florio, Vicki K. Grooms, and Marc K. Grooms. She is survived by her mother Lizzie Suggs, sisters Joanne Burkes, Gail Alexander, Wanda Kilroy and brother Carroll Suggs. She was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, 4 nephews, and 4 nieces as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life Services will be held Tuesday, January 6th 2015 at Doorway Baptist Church, 7825 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, South Carolina, 29418. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm followed by a 2 pm service. Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Doorway Baptist Church. Though our grief is great and our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our loving daughter, doting sister, tender mother, adoring grandmother and devoted friend, we can take comfort in knowing, as she loved to say, “this too shall pass”
