Martin was born in New York, NY on May 7, 1975, a son of Shirley Ann Smalls-Hackbart and the late Martin George Hackbart, Sr. He graduated from Lincoln Academy Auxiliary High School where he received his high school diploma in 1992.
He worked as a clerk for Toys R Us for twelve years. Growing up, Martin enjoyed playing sports such as basketball, baseball, and football. He also enjoyed bowling and bicycle riding. As an adult, Martin became an avid New York Mets and New York Giants Fan. He enjoyed being a spectator of Tennis Matches and Hockey Games. He also enjoyed a vast array of music genres; his favorite artist was Tupac Shakur.
Martin was a family man. Though he was independent and tough, he adored his family and was the rock that they leaned on and the considerate caregiver, whom always made sure their needs were met before his own. He gave more than he took. He lived a Christ-like life, believing Jehovah sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die for all of our sins, and his beliefs were evident in the life he lived. Martin touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Martin is survived by his mother, Shirley Ann Smalls-Hackbart; grandmother, Virginia Smalls; grandfather, James Washington; brother, Simeon Andrew Hackbart, Sr; and nephews, Simeon Andrew Hackbart, Jr., Matthew Christopher David Hackbart, and Adam Rhys Martin Hackbart; Aunts, uncles, a host of cousins and a host of friends.
