Robert Strong Boyd, 77, of Charleston, SC, entered eternal rest on November 16, 2012 at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.
He was born at McClouds Infirmary in Florence, SC on July 31, 1935. He was the son of the late Hazel May Loryea Boyd and William Dewy Boyd of Williamsberg County.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Doris Evelyn Tedder Boyd, his stepson Kelly Mark Baskin with his wife Chrystal Elaine Baskin of Goose Creek, SC. He has a step-grandson, Robert Alan Reagan and a step-great grandson Landen Alan Reagan of Williston, SC, two brothers, William D. Boyd, Jr of Hendersonville, NC and Louis H. Boyd of Jacksonville, FL.
He is predeceased by a step-grandson Kelly Michael Baskin and one sister Mildred Boyd Albertson formally of Charleston.
Mr. Boyd was a member of Soloman #1 Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Valley of Charleston, SC Orient and Omar Shrine of Mt. Pleasant/Charleston, SC, where he was honored as Shriner of the year 1993 for his outstanding service in hospital transportation for the crippled and burned children. He was also a member of American Legion Post #166 in Goose Creek, SC.
A Home Going Celebration will be held Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 1 PM at St. Mark United Methodist Church 413 Geddes Avenue, Charleston, SC 29407- the church that Bobby loved and cherished.
