Therman Elkins

By March 7, 2014 Obituaries

Therman M. Elkins, age 73, of Goose Creek, SC went to be with The Lord on March 6, 2014.  After retiring from Catepillar, he and his wife moved from Illinois to SC to be closer to family, but Therman found a great climate for gardening and ministering.  Active in their church, Metro North, he also spent considerable time with prison ministries, and was affectionately referred to as the minister of Walmart.

Survived by his wife, Janet of 51 years, daughter, Joanna Fox, and son David (Susan).  Grandchildren, Caitlin and Emma Fox, Kilby and Therman Elkins.  Brothers Curtis (JoAnn) Elkins, Kyle (Kathy) Elkins, Ernest (Gladys) Elkins and Lavada (Wayne) Coke.  Too numerous to name are the remaining flowers and garden vegetables he  cultivated.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with funeral to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Metro North Church, 109 Central Avenue, Goose Creek, SC  29445.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the church.  But, the family would love receiving cards sharing memories of Therman.

Therman, a man with a heart after God. He had the great ability of taking every day experiences of life and drawing spiritual analogies that challenged, encouraged, and inspired the hearers. He will be sorely missed by family and friends. Thank you, Therman, for loving Jesus and letting His light shine through your life!
Very fondly, Dan & Gayle Haas

Humbled to have know Therman! Remembering him showing up at my home w/ a ’tiller to keep my young, fatherless boys busy gardening! He had the ability to anticipate a need and carry thru w/ a solution!
