Obituary of Melia Richards

Melia Knotts Richards, 51, of Charleston, South Carolina passed away April 11, 2018 at her home, surrounded by love. She was born on May 11, 1966 in Wapakoneta, Ohio to Jerald and Connie (Fuelling) Knotts.  Melia was a loving wife, bonus mom, sister and daughter.  She  had many interests and lived life to the fullest in everything she did;  She loved boating, fishing, cooking, running, people watching, volunteering for her church, traveling, yoga, weekends by the pool, and spending time with family and friends. She was passionate about watching College Football on Saturdays with her husband.  She had a great love for the Florida Keys especially Looe Key Reef. She was a Graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Degree in Nursing. She worked for MUSC and Ralph Johnson VAMC as a Registered Nurse for many years. For the last 17 years she has worked at Novartis Pharmaceuticals, improving lives through research. She had a positive impact on everyone she touched.   She inspired and amazed numerous people with her strength and fierce determination during her battle with cancer. She was a true warrior.  She will live on in the hearts of so many. 

Melia is survived by her husband, Jason, stepdaughter Madeline, parents, Jerald and Connie Knotts, sister Tracey Brewer (Walter) of North Carolina, and her In-laws, Gordon and Kathy Murray.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Point Hope United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Point Hope United Methodist Church, 3404 Turgot Lane, Mt. Pleasant, SC  29466.
