William Scott

Obituary of William David Scott

William "Dave" Scott passed away peacefully at home Sunday morning, April 15, in the loving arms of his wife, Marie Bailey Scott, and surrounded by loving family and friends, following a brief battle with cancer. Dave was born in Barrie, Ontario, Canada in January 1948 to parents William Scott and Margaret Nugent. Dave retired from the Mississauga Fire Department outside of Toronto, Canada in 1998 after fighting fires and saving lives for 32 years. Dave was a volunteer with the Canadian Ski Patrol for 14 years and received the Dr. Douglas Firth Lifesaving Award. Dave enjoyed the heck out of retirement for the past 20 years by traveling and golfing around the world with his beloved Marie. Dave was passionate about visiting the local fire departments while traveling and collecting their respective T-Shirts. He loved his scotch with 3 ice cubes, good food and entertaining at home. Dave celebrated turning 70 in January by being the guest of honor at a party at Legend Oaks Golf Course. The Legend Oaks community has been home for 16 years and he called it his little touch of paradise. Dave was proud of his dual citizenship and not only enjoyed a career for his native Canada but he also loved his sports. He will be rooting for his beloved Toronto Maples Leafs and the South Carolina Stingrays during the hockey playoffs, as well as the Toronto Blue Jays. Dave is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marie; brother Alex, sister Bette Simonetto (Ange and daughter Deana), son Geoffrey, daughter Laura, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and daughter Wendy. Dave loved his extended Bailey family in Rochester, including Mom (Faye), sisters, brothers, nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces. There will be a Celebration of Life and Golf Tournament to honor Dave on May 19 at Legend Oaks Golf Course.
