Obituary of Perry Walters

Perry Oscar Walters,Jr. 89 of Elloree, South Carolina passed away on April 11th after a brief illness.  Perry was born September 1, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas.  He was the son of the late Eunice Browning (Walters) Murray and Perry Oscar Walters, Sr. both of Elloree.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ella Felder (Griggs) Walters.

 

Perry spent many years harvesting timber like his father, later becoming the owner and real estate broker of Perry Walters Real Estate Co. in Orangeburg, S.C.

 

He enjoyed fishing and in his later years became an avid gardener.

 

Perry was a member of the Stumphole community for 45 years and was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Elloree.

 

Surviving is his daughter Lynda Berg Walters (Barcomb) DeLoach of Hampton, S.C. :step-children Jim Griggs (Columbia, S.C.), Steve Griggs (Slidell,La), and Laura Kemmerlin (Elloree,S.C) : brother, James Williams Walters (Nellie) of Timmonsville, S.C. : nephew, Jim Walters (Darlene), Sean Walters (Libby) all of Florence, S.C. : grandchildren, Trevor Barcomb (Caitlin), Luke Barcomb (Amy) all of Albany, N.Y., Callie Barcomb of Hampton, S.C.: step-grandchildren, Kevin Griggs (Lana) of Jacksonville, Fla., Jessica Colt (Robert) of Red Bank,S.C., Conner Griggs of Pelion,S.C. and Jack Griggs of Slidell, La. : great grandchildren, Evan Barcomb, Leia Barcomb of Albany, N.Y., step-grandchildren Alexander and Sara Griggs of  San Diego, CA.
