Obituary of Merrick Bognar

Merrick James Bognar finished his battle June 17, 2018. 

 

Born December 8 2002, Merrick was the youngest son of Roger and Vicky Bognar.  He was raised in Goose Creek SC and was a member of the freshman class of 2021 at Goose Creek High School.  He wore his Gator gear faithfully.  

 

Merrick enjoyed doing "man work" such as mowing the lawn, yard work and tinkering in the garage.  He helped his family and his neighbors with various tasks.  Holidays, birthdays and the Coastal Carolina Fair were highly anticipated events.  He loved looking for "good stuff" with Mom, Dad and his Aunt Robin.  He brought home anything he could carry with his bicycle and red wagon.  He enjoyed listening to music especially Toby Mac, Newsboys, Blake Shelton, and Florida Georgia Line.  

 

He never met a neighbor that didn't become a friend.  He had strong likes and dislikes.  He won more than he lost at Uno and Trouble.  He enjoyed painting and crafts. Merrick had an ability to accept people regardless of appearance without judgement.  

 

He wanted to ride anything with wheels.  He loved trucks, go carts, his electric scooter and motorcycle rides.  

 

In addition to his parents, Merrick is survived by his big brother Radford Brice, his Sissy Layne Veronica, his Nana Judith Genchur Drawdy, his aunts and uncles, Tim and Robin Erickson, David and Richalin Genchur, Randy and Theresa Bognar, Ron and Beth Bognar, and his cousins.  He is preceded in death by his Gramps David Genchur, Vernon "Grandpa Skipper" Drawdy, Grandpa Roy Bognar and Grandma Audrey Bognar.  

 

We will have a Celebration of Life service July 8th from 2-5 at the American Legion in Goose Creek.  Dress anyway you wish just wear something please.  Expect to eat a lot of bad for you food, hear a wide variety of music and hopefully a bunch of funny stories.  In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Courageous Kidz @ www.courageouskidz.org, A Healing Grace @ www.ahealinggrace.org The Nick Price Foundation.
