Obituary of Edna “Butch” Flynn

Flynn, Edna “Butch” Dixon 82, of Moncks Corner, wife of Johnnie T. Flynn passed away peacefully Friday, April 6, 2018. Edna was born November 15, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert W. and Zulene Ashby Dixon in Roxboro, NC. Edna graduated from Bethel Hill High School, Roxboro, North Carolina. Edna could always be found in her garden, her kitchen or surrounded by her children and grandchildren; family and friends knew her as “generous” beyond words. Also, she was an avid bowler, follower of Clemson University and a faithful follower of ACC Sports. Edna is survived by her husband Johnnie of 63 years , one sister, Virginia Singleton, two brothers Bobby and Wayne Dixon (wife Peggy); two sons, Donald Flynn (Kim) and Dr. Keith Flynn (Tina); four grand children, Tabitha Colburn (husband Matt), Christine M Flynn (Jordan), Madeline Flynn and Ryan Flynn; two great grandchildren, Cannon and Kaelyn Colburn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Esther Jean Carver preceded her sister Edna in death. Edna was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church where for many years she sang in the adult choir. She held many positions in her church including flowers coordinator and more than twenty years as Church Treasurer. A Celebration of Her Life will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Oakley Farms, 112 Paso Lane, Moncks Corner, S.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Smyrna U.M.C.’s Building Fund, 724 Cypress Garden Road, Moncks Corner, S. C. 29461.
