Harold Marvin "Hal" Wishnow

Harold Marvin Wishnow (HAL)

May 20, 1934 — January 29, 2022

HAL passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of January 29th. He fought hard and rallied so many times in his fight to live with COPD.

“He was my best friend and loving husband for 37 plus years. I miss his humor, sarcasm, challenging arguments, rich vocabulary, his gentle touch, his warm embrace and his big hearty laugh.”

His children & stepchildren will miss his guidance, lectures and exclamation of love & pride in them.

He was a good dad, step-dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He leaves behind his wife, Margaret (Bonnie) Wishnow, children Yvonne Holland (Randy); David Wishnow, And step children Karen Grab, Steven Purdy, Oma Newton (Mike). Grandkids, Alyssa, Kate, Sienna, Samantha & Nick. Great grandkids, Kaiden, Cassie, Kaylee & Jhett. His best years were spent being a grandpa.

HAL was born in Kansas City MO, of Russian parents, Dave & Sarah Wishnow (first generation)& had two sisters, Eleanor & Frances who passed before him plus nieces & nephews, Rabbi Devon Lerner, Mark Klein, Rich Klein, Rhonda Klein, Paula Robinson (deceased), Dr. Scott Lerner (deceased).nieces Emma Hamilton, Margaret Schrock. He also leaves behind his sister-in law Heather McCarthy (Mike) supplier of fine wine & good gin and his brother in law Robert Hamilton. Plus a host of friends, many who’ve gone before him.

Hal Wishnow loved a good party, good Gin, good food, fine wine, bridge, good music & dancing. He could cut a rug!

Although he was born Jewish , he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his life along the way. Fun fact: he was baptized by the waters of Port Royal Sound in Hilton Head SC by the Reverend BK Hipscher in 2014.

HAL served in the army before entering the world of computers in the early years of technology. He spent many years in the field of computer science, working in command & control systems, logistics, intelligence and stuff we don’t know about.

An avid sports enthusiast, HAL, no doubt is playing tennis on the green in Heaven, & laughing his ass off because he brought his family together to share in their grief over him. We cried and we laughed, but we were together. It was all about you sweetheart. Sleep well.

“If you should go before me...please wait for me..”
