Obituary of Dennis Egge

DENNIS MICHAEL EGGE August 23, 1948 – April 2, 2018 It is with great sorrow that the family of Dennis Michael Egge announce his passing from heart failure on Monday, April 2nd, 2018. He will be forever loved, missed and remembered by his wife, Sandy, as well as his sons John (Amy) Egge, James (Chani) Egge, stepdaughter Maggie Diederichs, stepson Jake Diederichs, and many friends and former colleagues. He also leaves behind his brothers Alan (Kathy) Egge, Darrell (Karole) Egge, and his sister Jill (Randy) Russell. Dennis was delighted by his grandchildren: Marcus, Madison, Chester II, Josephine and Helena. He took great pleasure in watching them grow and enjoying their antics. He was their “Grumpa”, and he enjoyed that.title. He also had many nieces, nephews and their extended families who will also miss him. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father. He was a Vietnam veteran (First MIBARS, Nha Trang), and his stories were rich with detail. After his service he went on to earn a master’s degree and have a 34 year career in commercial aircraft contracts for Boeing. He was a skilled carpenter, having remodeled ten different homes during his lifetime. He had a great love of travel and a damned fine glass of single malt scotch. Aviation, trains, wordplay, cars (especially Corvettes), a perfectly prepared ribeye steak, boats, fishing, and, eventually, the sunshine of South Carolina were his passions. His family will miss his irrepressible irreverence, his humor, and his wisdom. He was our endearing curmudgeon, our rule-breaker, and our anchor. We will carry on his legacy in his honor. Rest In Peace, Dennis. A Celebration of Life will be held in Washington State this summer. Details will follow on Facebook.
