Obituary of Donald Jeffords
Donald Olin Jeffords, age 77, of North Charleston SC, passed away on November 28, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born, January 11, 1941, in Darlington, SC, the oldest child of the late Monroe and Mae Jeffords. He was a proud, retired veteran of the U.S. Navy. Aside from his service to his country, he worked at Hawthorne Aviation before beginning a stellar 40 year career with Southeastern Freight Lines as a driver, where he was awarded numerous accolades for years of service and safety, while driving well-over 4 million miles. In his spare time, he enjoyed church, reading his Bible, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, of 56 years along with three children: his princess, whom he adored, Donna, her husband, Kevin, who he cherished as his own son, and their son Mitchell, who held his granddaddy’s heart. Additionally, he is survived by his Aunt Dell Wallace and her son, Barney and his three sisters: Francis Kelly (Marion), Cathy Stokes (Carl), and Connie Gailette (Sam), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Midland Park UMC at 2301 Midland Park RD, N.Chas, SC on December 8, 2018. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM prior to the 11:00 AM service at Midland Park UMC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midland Park UMC.
