Obituary of Perry Holloway

After being born on June 28, 1937 to Marian and Perry Holloway, Sr. and growing up in Greenwood, SC, Jack joined the United States Navy on 6-14-1955 and retired May 16, 1974. He served on several submarines including the Trigger, Cuberra, and the surface ship Sellers as an Electrician (Chief). He received numerous awards for Good Conduct and National Defense Service. He continued using his electrician skills in the Charleston Naval Shipyard, later becoming a Planner and Estimator. He worked many years driving the wrecker for Jones Ford with his Yellow Lab, Buddy, riding “shotgun”. He later was a driver for Andy and Cheryl with Green Street Logistics and most currently with Stokes Honda on Rivers Avenue.

He married his classmate and sweetheart Ann Ferqueron from Greenwood in 1958. The Navy changed their address many times to several locations including Charleston, where they lived in Hanahan. They joined Advent Lutheran Church in North Charleston and raised their two wonderful sons Matt and Jim who along with daughter-in-laws, Margie and Elizabeth, blessed them with six Grandchildren: Tyler, Tanner, Ashton, Hunter, Connor and Rachel. Later followed by the Great Grandchildren: Blayne, Chase, Cara, and soon-to-be Beckham.

After the death of his beloved wife Ann, in 1992, Jack married a friend and former church member Sharon Varner in 1998. Her son Scott Spillman became a part of the family of seventeen.

Jack was a brother to Jerri Hannah, Pat Harris, Mike Madden, and Gary Madden.

Jack was a quiet, loving, considerate gentleman, a man of few but meaningful words, and a diehard Clemson fan. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
