Obituary of Miriam Jones

Miriam Enette Lee Jones, 85, passed away on Thursday December 13, 2018. She was the daughter of Etta Magnolia Dean and Aubrey Delton Lee. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Stanley Leon Jones (December 1983), a retired firefighter.

 A native of Louisiana, Miriam graduated from Choudrant Louisiana high school and The Spencer-Draughton Business School in Baton Rouge. She was a high school basketball player and voted most studious, enjoyed working in her yard and loved flowers. Miriam was actively involved in the Fraternal Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile, where she was past Queen. She was a former member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Bossier City Louisiana. After marriage she worked until retirement as an insurance underwriter.

Granny, as she was known by family was famous for her homemade Southern Pecan Pies. Her nickname from her friends and relatives was Mickey. Miriam lived for 23 years in Shreveport, Louisiana before moving to Haughton, Louisiana where she resided for 41 years.  She had an enormous passion for collecting teddy bears plus all types of Beanie Babies for years. Her faithful companion as a widow was a teacup apricot Poodle named Angel.

She moved to Mt Pleasant SC in April 2016 and was under Embrace Hospice care since March.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine Jones Winslow(Doug), of Mt Pleasant SC, and son Jeffrey Alan Jones(Debbie) of Bossier City Louisiana. Grandchildren Lindsay Hewitt(Matt) of Mt Pleasant, Ashley McAnulty(Grant) of Mt Pleasant, Carson P Winslow of Clemson SC, Melissa Kinney(Matt) of Haughton, Louisiana, Christopher Boardman(Mary) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Alexis Holley(Brandon) of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Chance Jones of Plain Dealing, Louisiana, nine great grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel on December 21, 11:30 at Simplicity Low Country Burial and Cremation Services in North Charleston. She will have a funeral service in Bossier City, Louisiana and burial later in January with remaining family, friends, and placed perpetually alongside her husband and mother in Simsboro, Louisiana.
