Obituary of Paul Saenz, Sr.

Paul R. Saenz, Sr. went to his eternal Home on Friday, December 21st, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  He was welcomed in Heaven by his grandparents, parents, and 5 siblings.

 

Paul was born in Mexico and moved to Texas with his family when he was 5 years old.  After a couple of years his family settled in Detroit, MI.  Paul stayed in the area marrying his bride and raising a family until 1997.  He also worked as a welder for GM retiring after 31 years.  They retired to Las Vegas, NV for 8 years and finally settled in Summerville, SC in 2005. 

 

Paul was known for his contagious sense of humor, his laid-back attitude, and his genuine care for those in need.  Paul was described as a hard-working family man.  Paul has always loved the Lord and his life was a testimony to that love.He enjoyed playing the guitar, building car models and fishing.  Paul was also known as the “Baby Whisperer,” as he truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. 

 

Paul faithfully served our country during the Vietnam War in the Airborne Division of the Army.

 

He is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Barbara Saenz: his children Kimberly Saenz-Henry, Daniel Saenz, and Paul Saenz, Jr. He is also survived by his siblings Leonard Saenz, Raul “Rudy” Saenz, Elvida Saenz and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was a grandfather to Felicia Blair, Kyle Saenz, Ryan Saenz, Salena Saenz, Jonathan Kampbell, Tyler Saenz, Daniel Saenz, Jr., Anthony Henry, Trinity Saenz, and Isaiah Henry.  He was a great-grandfather to Anthony Gomez, Aiden Saenz and Brooklyn Saenz. 

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 28th, 2018 at 1pm at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services in Ladson, SC.
