Obituary of Eva Carolyn Cady

Eva Carolyn (Smith) Cady, 86, departed peacefully from this life on December 21, 2018.

Carolyn was born in Elloree, South Carolina on July 29, 1932 to Verdelle (McEachen) Smith and Herbert Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Hervelyne Smith, Marie Smith, brother Herbert Jr. (Bubba) Smith.

Despite their admitted harbored disdain for one another upon meeting, that changed after the first date. They defied all odds and enjoyed 56 wonderful years of marriage. She adorned her dearly departed husband, Ronald Cady.

She leaves behind her four children; Donna Magers of Dallas, GA, Vicki Rutherford of Summerville, SC. Kim Ballantine of Charleston. SC and Brian (Tim) Cady of Georgetown, SC. eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Carolyn was known for her bubbly personality. It has been said her husband was a Saint for patiently enduring her never ending shenanigans and tardiness all those years. They made their home in Yuma Arizona for forty-five years where she was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Evergreen Garden Club, various civic and political organizations. She spent her teaching career caring for children with special needs. She was a master gardener and designed floral arrangements for special events. She also had a penchant for bowling, cooking, crafts and dancing, but not necessarily in that order. She was known for her Lemon Meringue pies. After retirement, her and Ron moved back to Elloree where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Mentor Book Club.
