Obituary of Erik Albiez
Erik Peter Albiez, 55, of North Charleston, passed away peacefully, the evening of
February 5, 2019. Erik was born in Louiseville, Quebec, Canada to the late Denise and
Henry Albiez.
In 1975, his family moved to North Augusta, SC. Throughout the years, Erik retained his
love for his French-Canadian heritage and language. Every summer, he would return to
Canada to his family's cabin at Lac Sacacomie and visit with his many friends, cousins,
aunts and uncles. Erik received his BS in Engineering in 1986 from the University of
South Carolina in Columbia. For almost 30 years, Erik worked as a civilian for the US
Navy at SPAWAR, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, where he was highly
regarded for his skills in Satellite Communications. He enjoyed fishing, hunting,
listening to rock music and collecting. He was known to all who met him for his
kindness, friendliness and giving nature.
He is predeceased by his parents, Denise and Henry Albiez, his maternal grandparents,
Ada and Napoleon Caron, his paternal grandparents, Otto and Henrietta Albiez,
maternal uncles Marcel, Pierre and Henri. And his paternal aunts Helen Spencer and
Francis Albiez. He is survived by his sister, Karen A. Brooks and her husband, Charles.
He is also survived by his beloved niece and nephew, Caroline and Houston Brooks.
He will be sorely missed by countless co-workers, friends, most particularly by his two
longtime friends, Chris Ward and Steve Conn, also known as the “Three Musketeers.”
Erik also leaves behind his furry friend, Jenny. Interment will be held in August in
Louiseville, Canada
.A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1st, 12-2pm, in the Education Room of the
Charleston Animal Society. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to
the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
