Obituary of Nicholas Paul Richard Goossens

Nicholas Paul Richard Goossens entered into eternal peace on March 29, 2019. Nick was born on July 10, 1981 in North Charleston, SC. He was a son, a brother, a father, and friend to many people. He was a compassionate, empathetic, and caring person who held a passion for his family, all animals, and everything with wheels.

Nick absolutely loved motorcycles and classic muscle cars. He completed high school and became a motorcycle mechanic. Nick became a firefighter with Caromi Volunteer Rural Fire Department, then with Hanahan Fire Department and Goose Creek City Fire Department. Nick enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and relaxing by the water. Nick was a cigar aficionado and loved to relax with a book and a cigar by the water.

Nick is survived by his son, Ethan Nicholas Goossens; his parents, Charles and Tamela Collins; siblings, Michael (Michelle), Daniel, Timothy (Claudia), and Ashley (Ryan); and his nieces and nephews, Mikey, Andrew, Madison, Peyton, and Reagan; Maternal Grandmother, Joyce Gilliland; Paternal Grandmother, Rosemary Goossens; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nick was preceded into eternal peace by his father, Michael Richard Goossens; Maternal Grandfather, Fred Hugh Gilliland; and Paternal Grandfather, James Emanuel Goossens.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Charleston Animal Society (www.charlestonanimalsociety.org), where Nick volunteered numerous hours to his passion of helping animals. Or to the Lowcountry Firefighter Support Team (www.firefightersupport.org), who shares Nick's passion of firefighting and helping others.
