Obituary of Debbie Smalley

Debbie I. Smalley, "Mama", 64 of Ladson, SC passed away on April 23, 2019 at a local hospital due to complications with chronic health issues.  Debbie was born on March 24, 1955 in Charleston, SC to the late Dr. Joseph L. Goodman and Helen B. Goodman.  She was also predeceased by her husband of 30 years, David G. Smalley and her beloved sister, Pam.  Debbie enjoyed crossword puzzles, coloring, but more than anything she loved spending time with her grandchildren....they could talk Mama into pretty much anything; she was a softy like that.  She is survived by her daughters, Heather Riffle (Mikie) and Loraine Reid (Jimmy); three grandchildren, Mason, Deagen and Sadie Mae, whom she loved more than anything in this world; her nephew, Joseph, who was more like a son to her; and many other family members and friends.  She was a very kind, gentle soul who loved hard and, more than anything, wanted her loved ones to just be happy.  She was such a blessing in our lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  

Until we meet again Mama, we love you to Heaven and back and will carry you in our hearts, mind and spirit forever.  

Momma, I promise to look over everyone for you love you always and a day, Heather... your Pudge. 

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 29, from 2:00 - 3:00 PM at Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services- Ladson (281 Treeland Drive, Ladson, SC, 29456).

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free

I'm following the path God laid for me,

I took His hand when I heard Him call

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day.

My life's been full, I savored much.
