Obituary of Harry Melvin Chamberlain

Harry Melvin Chamberlain, 84, of Summerville, husband of Judith Ann Chamberlain, died Friday, May 10, 2013. A service will be held in Waynesboro, PA. Please check back for service times. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Home Health and Hospice Care, Amedisys Inc., 1027 Physicians Dr #240, Charleston, SC 29414. Mr. Chamberlain was born July 8, 1928 in Zullinger, PA, a son of the late Carroll Lesley Chamberlin and Iola May Stine Chamberlin. He attended schools in Zullinger and after 30+ years of working for the Department of Defense under the Army, Air Force, and Navy, he retired in 1986. He also worked for Sanderson and Porter in Liberia, West Africa; US Trust Territories in Palau and Ponape Islands. He was the head of the Navy’s various utilities in Guam. Additionally, Mr. Chamberlain was a licensed Amature Radio Operator and was a member of the Shriners and of Summerville’s Lodge No. 234 A.F.M. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Mr. Chamberlain is survived by daughter, Connie F. Webb, grandchildren, Michelle M. Baldwin, Matthew R. Webb, and Mark J. Webb; great grandchildren, Michael R. Baldwin, Rachel M. Baldwin, Luke R. Webb, and Benjamin J. Webb of Woodstock, Catonsville, Huntington, and Rockville, Maryland, respectively; grandson, Adam Betts and great grandson, Joshua Betts of McSherrystown, PA; sister, Delores Recard, husband Glenn T. Recard, and son Larry Recard, of Waynesboro, PA. Mr. Chamberlain was preceded in death by a daughter, Twanna Kay Frank and his sister, Rosalie A. Grove. Arrangements are by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, North Charleston, SC.
