John was born in Worcester Massachusetts on June 17th, 1945 a son to Victor Solitro and Theresa Shea.  He worked several years as a machinist at Heald Machine before suffering a stroke at the age of 49.

He was a proud patriot and United States Navy Veteran serving in Vietnam.  He had a great  passion for the water and enjoyed swimming and although after his stroke he was not able to swim he still enjoyed talking about his son's boat and the excitement of the water. He never played sports, however, he did enjoy routing on his Boston Red  Sox and NE Patriots every game. His biggest passion was donating blood and earning his 10 gallon pin, never missing a time to donate and help others that needed it.

Loves ones that have cleared the path for him are his parents, Victor and Theresa Shea, his brother, Tony Solitro and his sister Lena Solitro. Loved ones that will miss him dearly are his Son, John Solitro Jr and his wife Cynthia Solitro of Grafton Massachusetts, His daughter Corey Roy and her husband David Roy of Summerville, South Carolina .  He was an amazing and  proud grandfather to 4 grandsons, Jason Maranda, Stephen Maranda, Aaron Solitro and Damon Roy. Also leaving behind one beautiful granddaughter, Marissa Roy.  He was so good at being a grandfather that he carried the title of great-grandfather to three more. Taylor Maranda, Jayleeanyz Maranda, and Marshall Maranda.  Most importantly  he leaves behind the love of his life Leslie Solitro of South Carolina.

Dad may you fly with the angels and never feel pain again. God has welcomed you home and we will see you again.  - love your family
