May 31,1974-March 20,2020

Heath Shane Watkins, 45 originally from Hampton, GA was shot and suffered fatal injuries on March 20,2020 in Charleston, SC. Heath is preceded in death by his mother Sherry Wabel Watkins. He is survived by his father James Watkins (Dale) of East Point, FL; his sister Heather Butler of Newnan, GA; and his sister Holly Watkins and sister-in-law Crystal Bradley of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his children Mallory and Emilie Patterson of Huntsville, TX; and Cody Patterson of Fort Campbell, KY; his nephew Chance Watkins of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Step-brothers Michael Crews and Ryan Crews; he is also survived by his many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

He was born in Riverdale, GA in 1974. He grew up in Morrow and Hampton, GA where he enjoyed being outdoors, riding go-carts, playing football, soccer, baseball and of course fishing as a young boy. He graduated from Lovejoy High School in 1992. He joined the Army shortly after graduation and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. After leaving the armed forces he found a career as a Insurance/Body shop Estimator. He currently worked for John Harris Body Shop in Summerville, SC.   

Heath was a man of faith an believed in Jesus Christ. He enjoyed attending churches of all denominations and frequently attended concerts of Christian music. He was kind and would frequently lend a helping hand when asked or needed. Heath knew how to make people laugh and never met a stranger. He was goofy and could always make you smile when you were down. Everyone knew and loved his big cheesy smile!

He liked to find “treasures” on the side of the road, and he enjoyed playing golf. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed what he cooked. For anyone who knew Heath, they knew of his joy and passion for fishing of course. A skill he enjoyed mastering.

He helped care for his mother during her final days. He provided support and much needed emotional presence. He loved his parents and family dearly. He was the best brother a sister could ask for. Heath will be missed by his family, his friends, his coworkers and the many special people that knew and loved him.  

Arrangements made by Simplicity Low Country Cremation and Burial Services. A memorial service Celebrating Heath’s Life will be held at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers the family request a tree to be planted in his memory and catch him a big fish.
