Obituary of Laurie Ann Richardson

Laurie Ann Richardson, 54, of Reevesville, SC lost her second battle with cancer on July 13, 2020, at home, in the arms of her Mother, Sarah & her brothers Michael (Caddie) & Kevin (Tanya), special friend Patricia Eckhoff, Pastor Theron Smith & his wife Frankie & Hospice Social Worker & friend, Yvonne.  Laurie was born in Jacksonville, Fl. on August 21, 1965. She spent all of her childhood years in Fl., living in Jacksonville, Lakeland, Pinellas Park & Brooksville/Spring Hill, Fl. Besides her Mother & brothers, Laurie is survived by her Father, William Richardson of Medford, Or, niece’s Ivy of Ocala, Fl. & Megan of Brooksville, Fl., nephew Scott (Amber) Walker of Reevesville, SC, Aunts Genevieve Smoke (Hugh Austin) of Parrishville, SC, Barbara Lemme  (Wolfgang) of Willimgton, NC, Uncle Kendrick Mayes of Green Pond, SC & numerous cousins & friends from the East Coast to the West Coast of the USA. To know Laurie was to love her. She possessed a wisdom that was rare, strength beyond measure, a deep & sincere love of everyone she knew, kind, compassionate & humble to the core. Laurie attended Elementary, Middle School & High School in Pinellas Park, Fl. & graduated High School in Spring Hill, Fl. She earned an Associate’s Degree at Pasco/Hernando Comm. College in Fl. Prior to her first major cancer battle at the age of 21, Laurie worked as a Vet Tech in Spring Hill, Fl. She possessed a love & way with animals that few have.  Laurie’s first Cancer victory left her with many health issues & a lifetime of pain, but that did not diminish her capacity to live a life filled with compassion & love of mankind & animals.  She was an avid & skillful photographer, peacemaker, Aunt & friend to all who knew & loved her. She had an unshakeable Faith & spirit. She enjoyed the outdoors/nature & was blessed to spend several years on the West Coast of Oregon with her Dad & companion Paul Mullen, living in Medford & Portland, Or. Laurie returned to Fl. , residing with her brother Kevin & family until moving to Reevesville, SC in 2019 with her Mother Sarah & friend Pat. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with cancer for a second time & underwent unsuccessful major surgery. She was discharged from the Hospital in Oct. 2019 & spent the remainder of her life at home with her family & Agape Hospice Care provided by her Nurse , Terri, her Social Worker, Yvonne, Chaplain Darius, Director of Nurse’s, Charlotte & Nurse Practitioner,  Christina . It is with very deep & grateful hearts that we thank all of these very special & dedicated people for their love & support during Laurie’s illness & passing.   In lieu of flowers or other memorials, donations to Agape Hospice, 1800 Paris Ave., Port Royal, SC 29935, would be greatly  appreciated. Due to Covid 19, plans for a celebration of life are incomplete at this time.Arrangements are being handled by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services Summerville.
