Obituary of James Patrick Shannon

James Patrick Shannon of Summerville, SC passed away Monday, July 27, 2020.
He was born October 9, 1955 and grew up in Columbus, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary Shannon and his wife, Kammie Olsen Shannon and survived by his brother Mike Shannon and his wife Rhonda, sister Kelly Shannon Sams and her husband Perry and Kammie’s mother and father, Diane and Melvin Olsen.
Pat participated in baseball and football in high school and graduated from Polk Central in 1973. He was a Veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1978 until his retirement as a Master Sargent in 1999. His active duty was spent on B-52s then C-150s and often mentioned favorably among his fellow B-52 Gunners.
Pat was an avid golfer, a true Braves fan and will be remembered as dependable, fun-loving, comical with a happy-go-lucky personality who never met a stranger.
Due to COVID-19, a memorial service to honor Pat’s life will be held when conditions improve. The family requests memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Columbus Presbyterian Church in Columbus, NC.
