Obituary of Leonita Rae Collins

Leonita Rae Collins, born April 20, 1930 and passed on to the Lord November 18, 2020. She lived a happy, long and full life surrounded with family and friends. A loving wife of (50+) years to J.E. Collins, together they had four children, Leslie Emmit, Michael Douglas, Lajay Rae and Anitra. She was a grandma, a great-grandma, an aunt, a cousin, a sister and a friend. To most she was known as Nita. She spent the majority of her life in El Paso, Texas with other stints in Palo Alto and Orange, California as well as Nevada, Arkansas, Washington and South Carolina.

Sweet as could be, she could also be onery and stubborn. She was a stay-at-home mom but also spent a short time as a school bus driver and helped in a family business, The Pine Box. A God fearing woman, she attended church regularly and read her bible daily. She could hold a long winded conversation filled with good stories and laughter. She enjoyed country music, George Jones country, the old, real stuff. She drove fast, never smoked a cigarette in her life and liked a glass of wine or a margarita from time to time.

We will miss her like hell -

Nita enriched our lives and we all have the memories and photos to prove it.

If we were all to go to breakfast with her today, she’d order her coffee black, her eggs basted and her toast burnt!

Until we meet again, Rest In Peace.
