Diana Bealer

Obituary of Diana Bealer

On May 31, 2018, after her family said their goodbyes, thank you's, and prayers, Diana Serrano Bealer picked the moment to take her last breath. She was peaceful, she was comfortable, she was perfect.

Diana (affectionately known as Lady Di) was a proud New Yorker, feisty Latina, devoted wife and mother, and compassionate friend. She was always the first on the dance floor and the last to leave a good party. She had a warm smile that went up to her eyes and boy, did she love it show it often.

Lady Di spent her whole life being the support, comfort, and compassionate listener to so many people. Whether she was working as a domestic violence counselor, advocating and translating for Spanish-speakers in the court system, working as a hospice caregiver, or volunteering to feed the homeless, Diana spent her life helping others. She was a pillar of strength and kindness for so many people and the world is undoubtedly a better place because she was in it.

Continuing Diana's legacy of compassion and unconditional love are her husband of 35 wonderful years, Ronald; her daughter and best friend, Jaclyn; her beautiful sister and gregarious brother-in-law, Frances and Robert; her wonderfully English family, the Wrights; her chubby cat, Bella; her ginger grandkitten, Luna; and the many, many people who considered Diana a soul sister.

Her friends and family will not be mourning a death, but rather celebrating a life at 12pm on June 29 at Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services located at 7475 Peppermill Parkway, North Charleston, SC 29418. As per Diana's wishes: there must be laughter and smiles sprinkled in among the tears; there better not be any carnations because they are synonymous with sad funerals; and black may only be worn if it makes you feel beautiful. All friends and family are welcome to join and celebrate a life well lived.

Diana brought so much joy and love into the world, but since there is no way to pay her back, we must now pay it forward. Instead of sending flowers, you can send a beautiful arrangement to a hospice or nursing home in your local area. If you are interested in making a donation in her name, Diana's favorite charity was St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/ or you can contact her family for more ideas on how to give.

But the best way to celebrate Diana Bealer's life is to do good whenever and wherever you can. Don't be afraid to reach out because you never know who is waiting for a helping hand.
