Obituary of Bertram Burr Davies

Bertram Burr Davies of Summerville, SC, 86, passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2021.

Bert was born in Birkenhead, England on August 27, 1934 to Bertram Charles Davies and Emiline Burr Davies. He married Alvis Davies on July 18, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy, from which he retired. He is known as “Papa” to many, but has twenty grand children, fifteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents Bertram and Emiline Davies, wife Alvis of 51 years, and grandson James Ramsey.

Bertram is lovingly remembered by his children Patricia (James) Ramsey, Debra Johnson, Benjamin (Rosa) Logue, Judi (Bubba) Droze, and William Davies; his grandchildren Krystal Ramsey, Gina (John) Beatty, Denise (Byron) Walters, Brian Boykin, Susan Osterdock, Ricky Johnson, Bradley Logue, Chris Logue, Anthony Logue, Andrew Logue, Erick Logue, Chad (Sarah) Droze, Lori (Steve) Droze, Taylor (Darius) Davies, Cordell Davies, Hayley Israel, Brett Black, Jackson Black, and Grace Black;  his great grandchildren Amber (Val) Major, CJ Clark, Kelsie (Cameron) Adams, Keenan Beatty, Brennan Carpenter, Jaxon Carpenter, Annalee Walters, Joseph Osterdock, Carson Lingat, A’Niyah Buck, Josselyn Johnson, Noah Cucuzzella, Malachi Bryant, Elijah Bryant, Malaya Black, and Mazani Black; his great-great grandchildren Amari Ramsey, Aaliyah Ramsey, Kelita Major, Kelasia Major, Xiomara Adams, and Paisley McCray; and puppy Ginger.

Papa was a strong, quiet man. He loved our Granny and supported who she was and the things she loved. When he married Granny, he got an entire family who he loved as if they were his very own. They would go on to have a son together and complete their family. He was an incredibly hard working man. He retired from the Navy and later from his position on the shipyard. He worked part time delivering pizzas and opened his own tax business for several years. He was content to sit quietly reading his Bible, paper or novel in the background of a busy room of family. His strength came straight from God and we never questioned if he was there for us. His faith and faithfulness was a treasure for those around him to witness. Papa was a man of few words, but he always encouraged us in whatever we were pursuing. Papa may no longer be with us, but we will remember his love and legacy always. We find comfort in knowing he had a wonderful life and that he is where he wanted to be, reunited with his wife in heaven.

At Papa’s request, no service will be held.
