Obituary of Jeffrey Lou Elliott

Jeff Elliott died suddenly March 27th in Hilton Head Island, SC.

He was born April 28, 1966 in Auburn, Alabama. He had an infectious laugh, witty, sarcastic sense of humor and beautiful blue piercing eyes. Jeff loved pulling for his Tennessee Volunteers (which was hard to do), he loved watching PGA Tour Golf and looked forward to the Masters and Ryder Cup. He also taped and watched every stage of the Tour de France for many years. A few years ago he took his family on a trip to Europe and was thrilled to walk down The Champs-Élysées and see where the finish was that he had watched so many times happen. Jeff was a talented landscape designer and loved working with flowers, plants and trees to create beautiful spaces. He was a Class A Golf Professional and spent most of his life as a club and teaching professional in Hilton Head, SC, Lexington, KY and various courses in North Carolina. Most of all he loved coaching youth baseball and basketball.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Tara Elliott, son Jack Elliott, his best friend and dog Winston Elliott, brother Jerry Elliott and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law and friends who were family. He was predeceased by his mother Mertie Elliott, his father Jerry Elliott, brother James Elliott and his beloved grandparents.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be 5 pm Friday, April 9th at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville which has ample space for people to socially distance and masks will be required.
