Obituary of William (Bill) Beecher Lusk

William (Bill) Beecher Lusk, 96, of North Charleston, South Carolina met his Lord face to face in the morning hours of May 10, 2021.  Born in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee on August 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Thomas Manson Beecher Lusk and Onia Martha Elizabeth Roach Lusk.  After leaving the farm, where his father was a sharecropper, he joined the Navy where he served for twenty years.  He saw action in both World War II and the Korean War.  After his time in the Navy, he continued serving his country by working twenty years at the POLARIS Missile Facility, Atlantic (POMFLANT) in Charleston.

Bill was a devoted family man.  He and his late wife, Jewel Wolfenbarger Lusk of Washburn, Tennessee, were married for almost sixty-nine years.  The couple had three children: Gary Lusk (wife Edie) of Pinopolis, South Carolina, Mark Lusk (wife Janet) of Swananoa, North Carolina, and Connie Lusk Tarrant (husband Jimmy) of Travelers Rest, South Carolina.  They had seven grandchildren: Lee Lusk Pariseau, Angie Lusk McBride, David Lusk, Jonathan Lusk, Christy Lusk, Gabrielle Tarrant Vicas, and Michaela Tarrant.  They were also blessed with five great grandchildren: Jake Zuber, Isaac Lusk, Rebekah Lusk, Amelia McBride, and Elloree McBride.  The oldest of ten siblings, he was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

His faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was evident in his love and service to others.  Throughout the years, he was an active member of Deer Park Baptist where he served in many positions of service including deacon and Sunday School teacher.  He was also active in his community as a Mason.

The celebration of his life will be held at Deer Park Baptist Church, 8875 Old University Boulevard, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406 at 11:00am on Friday, May 14, 2021.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service (10:00am until 10:45am.)  His burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406 following the service.
