Obituary of Donald Silas Poole

Donald Silas Poole:  Born 3/2/1932 and laid to rest on 5/27/2021

 

Mr. Poole is a retired Navy Veteran who served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.  After more than 20 years of service Donold retired from the military and started his civilian life moving from California to Illinois.  In IL. he was hired to serve as the Trauma Services Coordinator in the Chicago area.  After a couple of years Don moved to Springfield IL to work for the Department of Public Health where he was the Ambulance Services Coordinator for the State, then a coordinator for the Emergency Services Disaster Agency until his second retirement.   After retirement Donold retired to Folly Beach, SC with a stay in Bull Head City, Arizona.

Don’s passion for the Boy Scouts of America was apparent to all that met him.  Through his large patch collection for events and trails he attended and took part to his love of all Indian Lore.  Donold gave a large part of his extracurricular time to the Boy Scouts of America for well over 65 years.

Survived by his wife of 67 years Patricia Poole of Folly Beach SC, sister Mary Jane Patton of CA, Children Donold Poole of VA, Bryan Poole of TX, Aliese Phillips IL, Eric Poole SC, Janine Perez SC, Matthew Poole SC, Candace Madden NV.  Mr. Poole was pre-ceded in death by his parents Harold and Elizabeth, his brother Norman and three of his children Cheryl Hardy, Gregory Poole and Dustin Poole both of Folly Beach.

 

Services will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church located on Center Street Folly Beach at 10AM on June 10th, 2021.  Reception to follow at Father Kelly Hall, 105 W Hudson, Folly Beach SC 29439.  In lieu of flowers please send all donations to the Women’s Guild of Our Lady of Good Counsel PO Box 1257, Folly Beach SC 29439
