Obituary of Jerry Richard Sumler

Yemassee - Jerry (Richard) Sumler, 67, died June 14, 2021 at Colleton Regional Medical Center. He was born March 19, 1954, in Hampton, SC, the son of John Oliver Sumler and Mildred Tuten Sumler. 

Richard was a roofing contractor for many years. He loved people, fishing, hunting, boating and his Grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Leroy Sumler and nephew, Mark Sumler. Surviving are his son, Kyle Sumler; step children, Summer Gaucin and Tommy Pope; sister, Nancy S. Crosby; brother, David Sumler (Donna); sister-in-law Virginia Sumler; four grandchildren: Hunter, Baylor, Braylee and Hayley as well as a number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A memorial service will be held at Riverside Campground, 16721 Hendersonville Hwy., Yemassee, SC, beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021.
