April 20, 1951 – September 30, 2021

The Lord called “Jake” Joseph Tim Jacobs of Hanahan, SC into eternal rest on September 30, 2021 at Trident Medical Center ICU on the same day as his mother’s passing 22 years earlier. He succumbed after a short illness of covid-19. He was born in Charleston, SC.

Jake was the beloved son of the late Joseph Monroe Jacobs and Zelma Hardee Jacobs.

Jake was a 1969 graduate of North Charleston High School and attended The Baptist College (now CSU) prior to going into the Air Force, where he served as a recruiter in Florida. He also attended Hillsborough Community College, majoring in business management. Jake was a very talented man who loved country music. He played guitar, harmonica, banjo and keyboard and was a soloist.  He and a friend started Carolina Kansas, country band, and toured. He wrote many country songs in his lifetime. He was a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association. Jake owned many different businesses in his lifetime in Texas and South Carolina. He currently owned ASR Communications and Sanddollar Direct Satellite LLC Cable and Satellite Company. He was well thought of by his customers as he always aimed to please. Every Christmas he personally baked dozens of a family recipe for Christmas cookies and delivered them to his customers, friends and family.

Jake was an avid golfer and loved watching all kinds of sports and spending time with family. He was a dedicated follower of the space program. Jake was a very engaged grandpa, spending quality time with his grands having fun and teaching them things. He is survived by his two sons, Justin Monroe Jacobs of Saginaw, Texas and Jesse Weaver Jacobs (Amanda M.) and 4 grandsons, Cameron R. Jacobs, Avery B. Jacobs, Jesse W. Jacobs all of Carrollton, Texas, Jace A. Malisauskas (mother Kayla M. Schlaefer) of Goose Creek, SC.

Jake was also survived by two sisters. Ann J. Lee (Jack) of West Ashley, SC and Sharon J. McClelion  (Morris) of Ft. Mill SC.  Niece, Lori M. Holman (William), 3 grand nieces, Olivia, Brooke, Charley of Waxhaw, NC. Nephew, Kevin McClelion (Amy), and 3 grand nieces, Emma, Gracie and Chloe of Alpharetta, GA.

Jake remained close friends with many first cousins and spent time with them playing golf, watching football and attending many different events. He will be sorely missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends who considered him a brother and friend. He was always available to give a helping hand when needed. All could share many stories of his giving ways! The love of his life was his lab dog, Sir Samson I Am.  His son Jesse will make Sam a part of his family.

Jake was an active member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church from childhood until he went in the Air Force. He attended churches in Florida and Texas while living there. He was currently attending Northwood Assembly Church in Goose Creek, SC with his grandson, Jace. He was a member of Holmes Avenue Baptist. Jake was a professing Christian and believed Jesus Christ died for our sin.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering October 8, 2021 at 6 PM, 3126 Winners Circle, Charleston, SC 29414 at the home of David Gilmore.  It will be held outdoors but will move inside due to inclement weather. The family requests bringing a mask just in case we move indoors.
