Obituary of Sherrie Jackson Gerweck

Sherrie Jackson Gerweck, 75, was born on December 31st, 1945, and died on November 7th, 2021. The family will have a private service and burial.

Mom was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Harry Lee Jackson and Shirley Rose Jackson (Levine). While Mom preferred the company of plants and antiques over most people, nothing surpassed her love of being a mother. Well, Christmas was a very close second. Motherhood bookended her life, beginning with mothering her very own baby sister, Debbie. Barring the occasional stop sign that she deemed to be a suggestion, there truly was never another person who strived to be as good and just.  She was a beautiful writer, an amazing gift giver, a seamstress who would make our costumes on Halloween and a lover of gourmet cooking. She was the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi in college, one of the first female computer programmers in the 1970’s, and she retired from human resources management at Lowe’s. But, even with all of that, her most prized accomplishments are still her children and grandchildren, who she never has and never will stop loving and rooting for. While all of us have inherited her love of driving and Freddie Mercury, only some of us have her complete inability to make a left turn. Tell Freddie Mercury ‘Merry Christmas’ from all of us, Ma.

She is survived by her siblings David Scott Jackson and Debbie Ann Morton (Joe), her four children William Andrew Gerweck IV, Katharine Scott Gerweck, Harry Adam Gerweck (Sarah) and Jean Louise Ruddy and all seven of her grandchildren: Pvt. Connor Finnegan Ruddy, Noah Fletcher Gerweck, Will Griffin Ruddy, Owen Riley Ruddy, Elaina Renee Gerweck, Abigail Ryan Koon, and Eloise Mae Ruddy.
