Obituary of Lawrence William Mazyck

William Lawrence Mazyck, was  the 7th child born to Fred Sr. and Janie Campbell-Mazyck.

During his childhood he grew up in the 7 mile community of Mount Pleasant, SC. He worshiped at the Greater Goodwill A.M.E. Church with his family. He attended the local schools where he earned his High School Diploma. Upon graduation, he followed the footsteps of some of his older siblings and relocated to New York City, where lived most of his adult life.  He was gainfully employed as an Electrician and as a Security Officer for many years. After retiring at an early age, he returned to South Carolina and made his home in Charleston, until the time of his death.

He was an avid dresser.  He loved to model his 3 piece suits while sporting one of his many hats.  Cooking was his passion.  He loved to cook for his family and friends.  He worshipped at the Churches of his choice. He loved reading the Bible. His favorite passage was the 23rd Psalm.

He was a kind, compassionate, easy-going person.  He loved visiting and spending times with his family. Family was always first in his life. The children of the family loved being in his presence. He will always give them something to put in their piggy banks. No matter where he traveled, far or near, he never met a stranger he didn’t like.  He had a contagious smile and laugh that lit up any room that he entered.

Those who will cherish his memories are his beloved children, daughter: Andrea Green of Raleigh NC; Sons: Lawrence and Rodney Henderson of Bronx, NY and Orlando Henderson of Omaha Nebraska; his loving grandchildren, Sean Green of Raleigh NC and Tamiya Ware of New York, NY; his caring great-granddaughter, Alyssa Pointer of New York, NY; his dependable and supportive siblings; Sisters: Rosalee Simmons of Augusta GA, Marie Rouse and Maggie Mazyck of Mt.
