Obituary of Michael John Metz

Michael John Metz, 71, of Charleston, SC, passed away on February 5th, 2022, at his home, surrounded by family.

Mike was born in Pittsburgh PA on January, 19 1951 and he graduated from South Park High School. He then started his career as a restaurateur. He was involved in many independent restaurant projects, as well as national chains where he was recognized for multiple operator and developer of the year awards. Mike spent many years in the Pittsburgh market, before he moved to Northeastern PA to continue his restaurant career. Mike and his family moved to Charleston thereafter.

Mike was a wonderful husband, father, coach, mentor, leader of family peers and had a deep love for God and family. Mike was married to Rose (Miller) Metz and they have been together for over 44 years.

Mike’s sense of humor was larger than life and so was the love for his family. He was a lifelong golfer and was at home on the golf course where he had 14 hole in ones, 6 of those being in tournament play. He was a club champion multiple times which culminated into qualifying for the USGA Senior Amateur Tournament.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Rose; sons, Michael Jr and Matthew; brothers John, Dave (wife Jennifer) and Richard Metz; nephews and nieces, John Jr, Jeff, Maureen, Britain and Tristan.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, John and Phyllis Metz of South Park, PA.

The funeral service will be held at Kingdom Vision Christian Center, located at 1945 Bees Ferry Rd., Charleston SC 29414 on Tuesday February 15th, 2022 at 12pm. Visitation will be held at Kingdom Vision Christian Center immediately before service starting at 11am.
