Obituary of John P Hogan, Jr

John P. Hogan, Jr., 65 years old, of Cresswind at the Ponds, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his Summerville, SC home with his wife at his bedside. He was born in Newark, NJ and lived in the Colonia, Port Reading and Woodbridge Proper sections of Woodbridge Township before moving to Summerville, SC 2 years ago.

He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Iselin, NJ in 1974. Enlisting in the US Army after graduation, he served honorably as a telecommications specialist. Appointed to the Woodbridge Police Department and attended the Middlesex County Police Academy in 1985, he proudly served the community. Retiring after 25 years of service in March 2010.

John was a life member of Woodbridge PBA Local #38, a member of NJ State PBA Local #600, a volunteer with Avenel Fire Company #1 and Port Reading Fire Company #1 holding several offices, including President and Chief 2007-2008. He was dedicated to in his service to the residents of Woodbridge Township. John enjoyed bike riding, day trips, dining out with friends and being retired.

John was predeceased by his father John P. Hogan, Sr. and mother Anna B. (Wilson) Hogan. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 37 years, Susan (Zellner) Hogan, sons John P. Hogan, III and wife Evelyn of Hudson, FL and Bryan J. Hogan of Baltimore, MD and grandchildren Stephanie and Timothy. His brother Daniel K. Hogan of Woodbridge, NJ, many cousins nieces and nephews he dearly loved. John was extremely blessed with countless friends who he considered family.

Lastly, John is survived by his “beagle buddies,” Sherlock and Shamrock, who gave him endless laughter and love.

A memorial service will be will be held Sunday, March 6 at 1pm at the Cresswind Clubhouse, 500 Hundred Oaks Parkway, Summerville, SC.
