Obituary of Timothy James Bolchoz

Timothy (“Tim”) James Bolchoz, 71, passed away on February 9th, 2022 in the great city of Charleston, SC - where he was also born, raised, and lived.

Visitation will be held  from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 19th, 2022 at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services.

Tim was born to Richard Eugene Bolchoz & Louise Heaton Bolchoz on July 27th, 1950.  A lifelong Charlestonian, he was a proud alumnus of Bishop England High School and the College of Charleston where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology (1972).  He married Janet Mitchum on September 11th, 1976 at the Citadel Alumni House in Charleston.  He worked almost his entire career and retired as a Chemical Technician for Dupont (later, “DAK Americas”) after 32 years. At work, he was involved as a volunteer EMT & member of the Fire Brigade. He was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of Divine Redeemer Catholic Church in Hanahan, SC.

One of his great passions in life, Tim loved to play guitar and listen to a variety of music. From Jim Morrison and The Doors, to John Prine and The Beatles, Tim spent hours listening, learning, and singing their songs.  A sports enthusiast, Tim enjoyed watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Atlanta Braves. His family loved Tim for his giving heart, love for animals, and penchant for collecting “unique” objects. He also loved true crime television, mystery novels, and watching movies. A true renaissance man, Tim enjoyed many hobbies from photography and digital design to karate and exercising. And eating sweets (mainly pie).

Tim was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Abney Bolchoz.

Tim is survived by his wife, Janet, his children, Lauren, Meg and Nick, his sisters, Peggy, Collie and Mary Lou, his grandsons, Liam and Simon, and his favorite napping partner/dog, Cooper Ray.
