Obituary of Jean Atkisson

On Tuesday, February 15th 2022 Jean Atkisson, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 80 in her home surrounded by her loving family. 

Jean, or Jeanie for those who knew her growing up, was known best for her infectious laugh and outstanding cooking (especially her lasagna.) She loved to travel and was often in the process of planning her next trip. Whether it was down to Disney, off to Hawaii, or out to sea on a cruise to St. Thomas, she was always wandering and soaking up all there was to offer. 

Most of all though, Jean loved her family. She was the centerpiece of an extended family who loved her tremendously. As the hostess for all the holidays her and her husband’s home was a place where all knew they were welcome and visited often. No matter where you were or what you were going through, as a part of Jean’s family you could expect a regular call just to check in, to celebrate a special event, or to share a word of advice. 

Jean’s memory lives on with her husband of 64 years, her 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren as well as her brother and sister-in-law. Private services will be held for the immediate family on Feb 26th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to  Eagles Fly For Leukemia and Palmetto Animal League in Jean's name.
