Obituary of Carson Hurst

Carson H. Hurst, 87, husband of Johanna A. Hurst, of North Charleston, passed away Wednesday September 05, 2018. He was born in Arcadia, Florida and grew up in Wauchula, Florida. 

 

Carson joined the United States Army and served in Austria, France and Germany just after WW2. During his army carrier he served in the 82 Airborne and ending his career in the 517th Transportation Company. During his 20 year career he was a paratrooper, worked in various positions in the transportation fields, an aircraft crewman and later in aircraft maintenance as an Aircraft Repair Chief. He served in the Korean Conflict, in the Dominican Republic, and in Vietnam. After retiring from the United States Army, he moved to Charleston S.C. working both in Civil Service and in the private sector where he fully retired.

 

Carson is survived by his wife Johanna Hurst; his daughters Wilma Amerson and Gretha Shaw; his grandsons William (Billy) Amerson and Jimmy Amerson; his great granddaughters Ireland Amerson and Blake Amerson; his brother Olen Hurst and his sister Loretta Clanton.

 

Any memorial should made in the form of a donation to the Charleston SPCA.
