Obituary of Lucy Alma Amell Martinez

Lucy Alma Amell Martinez quietly departed this life on Sunday March 27, 2022, at Lowcountry Community Hospice House in Berkeley County, SC. She is the daughter of Anna Lee Amell Postell and the late Joseph Amell, Jr. Lucy was born January 13, 1944, in Charleston, SC. She attended Berkeley County Schools.

Lucy’s life and memories will forever be cherished in the lives of her spouse of 40 years Eliseo “Marty” Martinez; her mother Anna Postell of Summerville, SC; her sons Michael “Mike” (Reggi) McElroy of Joshua, TX; Joseph “Jody” (Gin) McElroy of Tampa, FL; and Marty Wolf (Antonio) Martinez of Orlando, FL; seven siblings Joanne (Irvin) Ulmer of Florence, SC; Carol Lines of James Island, SC; Joseph “Bubba” Amell of Summerville, SC; Greg (Bev) Amell of Summerville, SC; Nancy Barnhill of Summerville, SC; Steve (Janice) Amell of Goose Creek, SC; and Ben (Stephanie) Amell of Williamston, SC; grandchildren Sarah Clark of Charleston, SC; Mikey McElroy of Arlington, TX; Destiny Baker and Joseph “Joey” McElroy of Boaz, AL; Gabe McElroy of Tampa, FL; Sierra (Daniel) Dozier of Seattle, WA; Allyna (Jason) Villiaros of Chicago, IL; Austin Martinez, Emilea Martinez, and Kieran Martinez of Orlando, FL.

Lucy was one of the kindest and most humble people that we have ever known. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She had a tremendous love for her precious dogs and cats.

A celebration of her life will be held April 9, 2022, at 2:00 at Ridge Baptist Church, Summerville, SC. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Berkeley Animal Center, 131 Central Berkeley Drive, Moncks Corner, SC 29461 in her memory or to a local SPCA in your area.
