Wayne S. Mowry
Wayne S. Mowry, 74 of Summerville, South Carolina, formerly of Marietta, GA, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was born April 5, 1944 to Donnelly and Catherine Strickler Mowry in Latrobe, PA. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Vicki Freegard Mowry (September 11, 1991). Wayne is survived by his three children, Therese Waters (Rob), Trina Woods (Kirk) and Scott Mowry (Michelle), and his seven grandchildren, Mekenzie, Claire and Emily Zimmerman, Cason and Christian Woods, and Blake Mowry and Caroline Boone (Scott).
Known affectionately as “The Mow”, Wayne loved his family, friends and sports. He remained a passionate fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves. He loved fishing, golf and tennis. He was a recognized leader with over 45 years of success in the automotive aftermarket. Wayne was a motivator and encouraged others to be their best. He looked for the positive - the upside of a challenge. He easily made friends. He was fighter until his passing.
Wayne was generous. He loved people and had the gift of putting folks at ease. He was happy. He came to know Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior in 2017, and attended St. Paul’s Church in Summerville, South Carolina.
Wayne will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00AM in the Sunrise Chapel at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA.
