Obituary of Deborah Grace Swafford

In Loving Memory of

Deborah Grace Swafford

Deborah Grace Swafford, age 64, passed away Sunday April 17, 2022. To all who knew and loved her she was “Debbie”. She was born November 7, 1957, in Wolcout, Connecticut, to parents Norman and Grace Blomquist. Debbie’s father was in the Navy, and they moved to Beaufort, South Carolina where she attended and graduated from Battery Creek High School in 1975. During High School she enjoyed cheerleading and hanging out with her friends. For the past 35 years she lived on the outskirts of Bluffton in Pritchardville. She was a beloved cafeteria worker at Michael C. Riley Elementary School for many years and then transferred to Okatie Elementary School for the remainder of her career. She treasured her lifelong friendships with several of her co-workers.

Debbie was loyal and loved by many. She was known for her big smile, infectious laugh and great sense of humor. When her daughters were growing up, she was a second mom to many of their friends, and often had a house full of loud teenagers. She was well known for her homemade split pea soup, so well-known that the neighborhood kids and friends would come over bringing their own bowls to fill of the notorious green soup. Some of her favorite things were spending time with the grandkids, gazing at the stars, laughing, dancing, listening to Bob Segar, Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac.

Debbie had been with her best friend and loving husband, William “Billy” Swafford, for twenty-four years. Together they loved their animals and enjoyed their friends and family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Grace Blomquist; her sister Lori Jean Blomquist; and stepson, Jonathan Westerfield. She is survived by her father Norman (Doris) Blomquist; her brother William “Bill” Blomquist; her husband Billy Swafford; her children, Miranda (Chad) Johnson of Beaufort, Nichole (Nick) Bradley of Beaufort, Peyton (Velisa) Westerfield of Georgia, Jessica (Shannon) Anderson of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph, Lilly, Easton, Camden, Myca, Reece, Mykenzie, Kayden, Leah, and Kyler. A Celebration of Life Memorial for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 2 Magnum Street Bluffton, South Carolina at 4:00 pm.
