Obituary of Hilbert Eugene Wiggins

Hilbert Eugene “Gene” Wiggins, 76, of Summerville, South Carolina passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 29, 2022. Arrangements by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services.

Gene was born October 5, 1945, in St Stephens, South Carolina and was the son of the late Hilbert Linwood Wiggins and Ruby McMakin Wiggins, He is survived by his two sisters Judy Walker and Linda Addison.

Gene graduated from the first graduating class of Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina with a degree in Drafting. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Machinist, and then went on to open his own business. Gene owned and operated several of his own businesses throughout his life which included Metal Fabricators, The Wiggins Company, and G&R Machine Shop. Some of Gene’s many talents included being a machinist, auto/truck/tractor mechanic, landscaper, and metal fabricator of beautiful lowcountry ornamental iron.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Wiggins; his two daughters Vickie Farris (David) and Renee Sarine (Gerry) of Summerville, and 4 grandchildren of Summerville – Alexis Sarine Heaton, Jacob Farris, Julia Farris, and Amber Sarine. Gene (husband, daddy, granddaddy) will be greatly missed by all of those that loved him so dearly.
