Obituary of James "Jim" Ernest Marsh

James “Jim” Ernest Marsh passed away on May 10, 2022 at the age of 79, in Hollywood, SC. He was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama.  He was predeceased by his father, George Earnest Marsh, mother, Lora Reach Marsh, (Sister) Dorothy M. Marsh, (Brother) Larry J. Marsh, and (Sister) Rita F. Marsh. He has one living sister, Linda J. Marsh in Warrior, Ala.

Jim’s  battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges always with a smile. Despite his challenges, he was a trooper and did his best to stay strong until the end for his children. His smile and humor in the most mundane life circumstances even after losing his wife is what helped to keep him going. During this time, through the efforts of family friends he was able to rediscover his love for hunting and kill his first deer since being a young kid, even as weak as he was.  He was so proud of his sharpshooter skills were not lost after all this time.  He loved watching old western and cowboy shows, no matter how many times he had already seen them.

Jim met the love of his life, Evelyn Diane Byars Marsh in Columbia, SC, who passed away October 30, 2020.  It was love at first sight.  They became engaged on their first date, and were married for 56 years.  She was a loving wife who supported him in his military career with the US Army and Coast Guard, as well as his non-military work career with GTE/Verizon in Hollywood, SC.  Together they had 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and news of a new great granddaughter on the way: (Children) Cynthia Anne Marsh Sepulveda, Tammy Jeanne Marsh Warren (Ricky), Teresa Lynn Marsh, Laura Christine Marsh, and James Ernest Marsh, Jr. (Renay). (Grandchildren) Robert Neil Kurtz, Jr. (Lauren), Rahle Caparas Marsh (Kristen), Peter Avilio Sepulveda, IV (Janna), Michael Anthony Mancuso,  James Conrad “Marty” Marsh, Lora Evelyn Marsh and Patrick Marsh Rodriguez. (Great Grandchildren) Maria Gianna, Arabella Rose, Andrew, and Layla Leola.
