Laura Smith

Obituary of Laura Smith

Laura Christine Dwiggins Smith,  42, residing in Ladson, SC went to be with our Lord Jesus on June 1, 2022 due to long battle with lupus that caused complications with her heart.

Laura was born Februray 10, 1980 in Ganado, TX and grew up in NC before moving to Ladson where she attended Ft. Dorchester High School and graduated in 1999. She remained in Ladson to marry her husband James and to raise her family.

Laura loved her family and made them her sole focus. Whether taking her daughters to beauty pageants, chaperoning field trips, attending school functions, or baking cookies for the classroom, she was always there for her girls.

Laura loved to cook and was known for her tasty desserts and her prize-winning chili that won her several first place finishes.

Laura was a free spirit and was full of life, to know her was to love her. Her smile could melt the hardest heart. Her laugh filled the room and anyone who heard it was captivated by it. Thoughout her life she brought love and joy to those around her and always saw only the best in people.

Laura was always fascinated by the moon. In fact, her favorite saying was "I love you to the moon...and back."  Right before her surgery, she was able to witness a lunar eclispe with her daughter. Together, they gleefully watched in awe and wonder.

Her favorite color was purple and she loved anything amethyst which also happened to be her birthstone.  Her favorite flower was a rose and  she also loved butterflys!  It's easy to imagine her flying around as a beautiful, purple free-spirited, butterfly or possibly a magestic blue bird.

Laura was a big fan of music and she loved to chill with good friends, good family and good tunes.

Laura was a loyal, true-blue and trust worthy friend.  If you ever needed someone to confide in she would be there. You could always count on her for anything.

Laura was not shy and everywhere she went, people always knew her. She was always game for anything and showed her support for her extended family and friends at every important milestone or occasion.  She was always there to make a toast or give a speech for special events.

Laura was a fighter and struggled with her health most of her life. She fought until her last breathe until her heart failed her.

She leaves behind her husband of 19 years James Smith, her two daughters Isabelle and Elisabeth Smith, her mother and stepfather Phyllis and Chris Henry, her two sisters Jennie Dawkins  and husband Sean Mangan and Misty husband Shayne Ruffing, nephews and neices Drake Dawkins, Riley Dawkins, Shawna Mangan, Haley Odell, Parker Odell, Cannon Odell, Avery Burrows, and Mylee Dawkins. She is preceeded in death by her father Stewart Morris Dwiggins, her nephew Cannon Stewart Odell her maternal grandparents Earl and Virgina Parker and

paternal grandparents William Stewart Dwiggins and Virginia Juanita Owen's.

She will be missed by us all and we shall always carry her with us in our hearts forever.
