Obituary of Oscar Leon Davis

The Rev. Oscar Leon Davis Sr, 76, of Ridgeville, SC, was summoned by God to enter Eternity on the evening of Thursday, June 2nd. On Saturday, June 23, 1945, he was born to Clifford Davis and Sally Hawkins Davis in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, and blessed to be raised by Elizabeth Davis.

The most important role in his life was his acceptance of God’s call to ministry in 1971 as associate pastor at True Vine Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Among his acts of servitude, he served as associate minister at various churches and was called to pastor West Point Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. He pastored for over 20 years at Rosemount Baptist Church in Charleston, South Carolina. As a faithful servant, he served his community on boards, outreach ministries, and minister alliances at local, state, and national levels.

In addition to his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by brothers Elehue Davis and Randall (Mary) Davis, sisters Gertude (Shellie) Colbert, and Addie Mae (Stockard) Webster.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Gene A. Davis; son, Leon (Tracey) Davis, Lawrenceville, GA; three daughters, Na’Kita Davis, North Charleston, SC, ELizabeth Fluellen, Marietta, GA., and Altavina Davis, Summerville, SC; one brother, Clifford (Carol) Davis, Round Rock, TX; one sister, Grace (Henry) Houston, Murfreesboro, TN and one sister-in-law, Florida B. Davis Saginaw, MI; six grandchildren, Maurice Davis, Targina Cherry, Naidia Bennett,  Dishekia Davis, Ashley Nix, and Tahirah Davis; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and spiritual children. He always felt that he was a rich man, as his family was/is rich with love.
